Our Education
Facilities
The Director of Medical Education and the wider education team is responsible for ensuring facilities are in place to maximise the training and learning requirements of medical staff.
The centre comprises a 114 seat lecture theatre, as well as 12 seminar rooms and a clinical skills laboratory. Our state-of-the-art simulation centre hosts a range of hands-on medical simulation training sessions. Video conferencing technology is available in some seminar rooms to facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings to other sites. All seminar rooms are equipped with IT equipment, large projection or flat screen displays and audio output. IT technology also allows virtual meetings to take place via Microsoft Teams.
Refreshments are available from our coffee shop and we have indoor and outdoor seating areas for staff to relax or meet with colleagues.
Prayer Centre
The hospital provides a prayer centre, which is located by the main canteen and is open 24 hours a day. The centre has ablution facilities that can be used by Muslim staff. Please select the button for further information about Chaplaincy Service and prayer centre facilities.
One of the main positives of working in the Dudley Group is the autonomy that you have. There is a variety of what you can get involved with.

OUR DOCTORS
MESS
Where can I find the mess?
The Dudley Group junior doctors mess is an organisation run by doctors, for doctors.
There are two messes in the hospital. One is located on the ground floor along the corridor to the right of WHSmith, and the other is situated in South Block opposite the Action Heart gym.
What facilities are available?
Both messes offer a fridge, microwave, sofas, a TV and computers. They offer a comfortable place to relax and unwind on a busy shift. They can both be accessed 24 hours a day.
The mess in South Block has a pool table and table tennis.
What activities are on offer?
Yoga Class: This is every Wednesday in South Block, in the Undergraduate rooms.
Book Club: Books are provided by the mess, and a social meeting is arranged to discuss chosen books.
Monster Mess Events: Big events are available to junior doctors in the West Midlands area (North, South and Central).
Russells Hall Hospital organises social events too, such as paintballing, bowling and social meet-ups.
THE SIMULATION
CENTRE
This multi-functional centre has the capability to provide a simulated two-bedded ward and an operating theatre. The operating theatre setup has a fully functional anaesthetic machine and operating table. The centre utilises Guamard and Laerdal high-fidelity human patient simulator manikins, providing students with exceptional life-like experiences. A fully integrated audio-visual system with full recording capability and state of the art debriefing software, helps to enhance the debriefing experience of our participants. The debriefing room has a high-resolution screen and an interactive slate, enabling clear and detailed debriefing to take place.
CLINICAL
SKILLS LAB
Our clinical skills lab hosts a wide range of sessions covering procedural skills. Sessions are delivered by a team of experienced clinical skills facilitators working across nursing, undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

It operated as the postgraduate education centre until it was relocated to Russells Hall Hospital in September 2003.
